Linen shirts are a must

Besides the versatile white, brown and neutral options, experiment with some pastel colours (please avoid fluros). Light blues and soft reds are a nice way to add colour to an outfit. If you're comfortable with the style, try a patterned or printed shirt — a soft stripe is an easy way to wear colour and pattern at once.
