Three Jackets You Need To Get Through Winter

Despite the wet days and cold nights, we can't help but love winter fashion. The additional layers allow us to put together some unique styles with fun accessories.

Whether you're heading out for Friday night drinks or yelling at the umpires at the MCG, we'll have you covered. Here are the three different jacket types you'll need to beat a cold Melbourne winter.

A Blazer or Sport Coat

The centrepiece of your smart-casual outfits, a small variety blazers will keep you looking sharp (and warm!) throughout winter. Whether you're off to a birthday or attending a formal work lunch, a well fitted sport coat is a must. You'll be just as comfortable throwing it over a basic tee and skinny jeans, as you are with tailored chino pants and a white dress shirt.

For the cooler months, we suggest sticking to wool clothes which provide a balance of warmth and breathability.

A Bomber Jacket

The ultimate casual jacket, a classic bomber jacket will be your best friend on your everyday outings. Stick to the basics and learn to wear it out with almost any of your casual outfits. For those extremely cold nights, layer yours with a knit and scarf for a refined casual style.

Generally available in black, navy or khaki; choose between a padded bomber jacket with extra bulk or a thinner cotton bomber jacket for a smarter style.

A Trench Coat or Overcoat

Deciding on an overcoat is a little more dependent on your use case. Traditionally overcoats were apart of your formal wardrobe, and (as the name suggests) worn over your suits or blazers. Thankfully, today's interpretations are quite modern and can be styled with a t-shirt and jeans. Finish off the casual look with a thick scarf.

The right size and fit is essential. A well-fitting coat should be tapered, with enough room to add a jacket or knit underneath.
